Request Summary: Treatment of Insomnia

Request Category: Private Individuals

Question Number 1:
In the last 12 months, how many unique patients have been treated for Insomnia (ICD-10 code G47.0) with the following products:

1). Zopiclone

2). Zolpidem

3). Any other Melatonin product

If you cannot provide the information for each product, please provide the information that you do have available.

Answer To Question 1:
• This code is unlikely to be added to the patient record as this is not commonly noted in patients’ healthcare records.
• Patients’ own medicines from home are utilised whilst the patient is in hospital and not all patients receive a supply through pharmacy, so JAC records are incomplete.
• Some clinical areas have zopiclone and melatonin as stock and therefore, supplies would not be recorded in JAC ( Pharmacy System)
• Not all clinical areas are using ePMA and a search may not identify all patients
